a'bout has opted only to be found through word of mouth, the a'bout website, and their travels from Toronto to San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles to present their new season collections with by-appointment trunk shows. Each client and guest's discovery and selection of garments is a unique and personal experience. Valuing every visit to their showings, appointments are scheduled on a one-to-one basis with dedicated care and support.
In March 2020, the "at home" curation service was created. Through communication with the client, a curated selection from the collection is delivered to the client's home for her to try on at her convenience. A FaceTime consultation is offered with one of the designers to walk through the curated pieces together, providing the client with feedback, input, or guidance on the selection.
a'bout's cut-and-sew pieces are made individually by order in Toronto, while knitwear is available from a limited stock designed in Toronto and made in the US. Orders require six weeks to produce from pattern revisions (if any: minor adjustments specific to individuals. i.e. sleeve and pant length adjustments), hand-cutting each piece one at a time, sewing, and hand finishings to completion.
With its capacity and intention to preserve the personal care and service for clients, a'bout maintains to serve no more than 45 clients per season.
